Authors submit manuscripts directly to the relevant journal. Journal-specific author guidelines, article types, formatting requirements, fees and editorial policies take precedence over general publisher information.

Author responsibilities

• Submit original work and disclose related or overlapping publications.
• Meet appropriate authorship criteria and identify contributions accurately.
• Disclose relevant conflicts of interest and funding.
• Provide ethics approval, consent and trial registration details where applicable.
• Use reporting guidelines appropriate to the study design.
• Respond constructively to editorial and peer-review comments.
